Role
Design Lead
At-a-Glance
I served as the UI/UX Lead for this project for five months in 2023. My role involved designing a web application focused on simplifying and improving cryptocurrency portfolio management. The application provides users with a centralized tool for tracking and analyzing their assets.
Problem
Designing a user-friendly tool for managing NFT portfolios across diverse networks and accounts presents challenges in creating a cohesive interface given the varying structures of wallets and blockchains. Achieving an intuitive user experience that facilitates seamless navigation across networks and accounts is paramount for effective interaction.
Solution
The solution entails crafting a universal and adaptive interface that seamlessly integrates the diverse structures of wallets and blockchains. A meticulously organized and intuitively understandable user interface, with clear navigational pathways, fosters efficient interaction and simplicity in portfolio management across various networks and accounts.
Process
After researching competitors, market research, interviews with owners and other stakeholders, following these stages, the clients have requested an immediate transition to the creation of wireframes and subsequent discussions. They emphasized the difficulty of discussing interfaces without visual representations.
Wireframes & Prototypes
I then brought my idea to an interactive digital low-fidelity prototype and brought it to clients and stakeholders to collect feedback.
User Flow
After presenting the initial iteration of the user flow and low-fidelity wireframes, the flow and overall functionality were reviewed.
Major Design Iterations
I made two major modifications based on the feedback that I received from the usability testing sessions. I took note of the user comments and suggestions, and worked hard to implement them in a way that would provide the best user experience possible. My goal was to create a product that was easy to understand, efficient to use, and enjoyable to interact with. To achieve this, I paid close attention to the user feedback and made changes accordingly.
Iteration 1. Effortless Collection Exploration and Focused Viewing
Users necessitate the ability to search through NFTs, their respective collections, and view NFTs exclusively within a specific collection.
Iteration 2. Quick access to your assets
For enhanced user onboarding, we initially implemented a demo mode to acquaint users with the application's functionality. However, we later realized the importance of providing the option for users to seamlessly access the app directly with their wallets and subsequently import their NFT assets. This includes the capability to import from any wallet source by entering the wallet address in the input field.
Final design
Product Successes
As the product remains in the developmental phase, discussions regarding success metrics pertaining to real user adoption and satisfaction percentages are premature. However, it is noteworthy that the focus group involved in testing expressed a high level of satisfaction with the final design iteration. Further assessments and user feedback will be instrumental in gauging the product's success upon its completion.
What I Learned
I have enhanced my skills in crafting versatile and adaptive interfaces that integrate diverse wallet structures and blockchains. One of the challenges involved finding the optimal balance between functionality and aesthetics, taking into account the needs and expectations of users and clients. I take pride in having created a design that meets these criteria and receiving positive feedback from the focus group.
